Wear Your Story on Your Skin

Private tattoo sessions in Newfoundland where every line, shadow, and scar becomes part of a deliberate, lasting design.

About Us

A single client sits forward in the chair while the needle traces the final edge of a wolf’s jaw. The room stays quiet except for the low, steady hum and the soft scrape of paper as the artist checks a reference sketch pinned to the wall. Okami Tattoo opened its doors on Route 23 with the belief that a tattoo should read like a page from the wearer’s life, not a decoration chosen from a wall. Each of the five resident artists keeps a separate station, each with its own light, music, and collection of reference books. Rob works almost entirely in blackwork; Jennylynn favors delicate memorial scripts that still hold their edge after years of sun. No appointment is rushed. The first meeting lasts as long as it needs to, sometimes two hours, while the design is adjusted until the client feels the line belongs to them. The result is a body of work that clients return to photograph years later, the ink still crisp, the memory still exact.

What We Offer

Custom blackwork and fine-line tattoos form the studio’s backbone, each piece drawn from client photographs, family crests, or fragments of poetry. Larger pieces require multiple sittings scheduled weeks apart so the skin can heal between layers of shading. Memorial and matching designs receive extra time for consultation so the symbolism feels true rather than borrowed. Color work stays selective—muted earth tones, deep reds, or single accents chosen to sit against the client’s skin tone rather than compete with it. Touch-ups for existing tattoos are booked on slower afternoons, allowing the artist to study how the original ink has aged. Every client leaves with printed after-care instructions tailored to the size and placement of the new piece.

Why Choose Us

Five resident artists each maintain distinct styles, from dense blackwork to delicate script, so clients never settle for a single aesthetic.
Private stations and unhurried consultations mean designs evolve with the client instead of being chosen from flash sheets.
55 five-star reviews cite consistent technical execution and respectful handling of personal stories behind each tattoo.
Custom memorial work is scheduled with extra time so symbols and text carry emotional weight rather than decorative value.
Follow-up touch-up sessions are offered at no additional design fee for pieces completed within the past two years.

"Every one of Okami's artist is clearly exceptional in their skill. Each artist is so unique in personality and drawing style. And each artist delivers amazingly polished tattoos that reflect their years of dedication and love for the craft. Freaking amazing dudes/dudettes. I can't recommend them enough. A special thanks to Bronson, who went above and beyond to give my wife and I two fantastic tattoos. He's also funny as hell. Great atmosphere. Great prices. Great people. Enjoy your next tattoo!"

"It’s about time I wrote a review for Okami Tattoo after getting now three tats done by Rob. This is mostly to discuss Rob’s absolutely amazing talent, but everyone here is always lovely! First off, their shop is spotless clean and always has an incredibly friendly feel. Everyone that works here is welcoming and it makes you want to come back for more. Rob is professional, honest, and talented. He will work with you on any idea you might have and make your vision come to life. He is meticulous, patient, and clean when working. Every tattoo I’ve gotten from him, I walk away loving it more than I anticipated. Overall I would recommend Rob for your tattoo ideas in a heartbeattttt! You can’t really go wrong with anyone at this shop because they’re all great, but from my experience Rob is exceptional. 5/5"

"Highly recommend this place. Jennylynn was awesome from beginning to end. She did matching memorial tattoos on my mom and myself for my dad, along with a tiny extra and she nailed it. It was not only my mom’s first tattoo but she also got a second haha. Jennylynn you are fantastic, thank you!!"

"When I decided to get my first tattoo, I was pretty nervous. After checking out a few places that didn’t quite feel right, I found Okami! I got in touch with David, and he was incredibly patient and thoughtful throughout the process. I had a general idea of what I wanted but struggled to articulate it and David helped bring it to life. I’m very happy with how it turned out, and my first tattoo experience was genuinely enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back!"

"AWESOME EXPERIENCE!! Appointment was on 12/17 with Rob. Rob has a very caring, calming demeanor. He truly ensures each client has a positive experience, especially if you are a first-timer. The tattoo studio is very clean and neat. Extremely happy with his work. No complications or issues with the tattoo since the appointment and Rob was available to answer any questions during the healing process. I will absolutely be returning. I HIGHLY recommend Okami Tattoo!"

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book a custom piece?

Most clients reserve their first consultation four to six weeks ahead. Larger projects that require multiple sittings are scheduled with gaps of at least three weeks between sessions.

Do you offer walk-in appointments?

Walk-ins are accepted only on weekday afternoons when an artist’s schedule is clear. For anything larger than a palm-sized design, a booked consultation is required.

What style of tattoo do your artists specialize in?

Blackwork, fine line, and restrained color palettes are the dominant approaches. Each artist also keeps a small body of flash for those who prefer to choose rather than commission.

Is there an age requirement?

Clients must be at least eighteen years old with valid government-issued photo ID. Parental consent is not accepted for tattoo services.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Eat a full meal, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol the night before. Wear clothing that allows easy access to the placement area and bring any reference images you want incorporated.
